The HOBIT Project
Every second man in the Czech Republic dies of a cerebrovascular and cardiovascular disease (strokes / heart attacks). This disease kills more than 22 million people in the world every year. There is still room for reversing these deaths and consequences of the disease by modern medicine if only people knew how to correctly react to the symptoms. Unfortunately, the educational campaigns focused on adults have shown up to be ineffective. That is why many experts in the world and from the Czech Republic as well suggest the education about the most serious disease should start primarily on the school level. It is the only systematic way of passing life important information to people.
The beginning of the HOBIT Program
The research focused on raising awareness, carried out by South Moravian Region in 2009, has shown almost zero knowledge of pupils about this serious disease. Also from this reason St. Anne's University Hospital in Brno and its cerebrovascular and cardiovascular disease experts with a support of educational specialist has decided to create this educational project. Its long term aim is to give knowledge to pupils from primary school and grammar school about heart attack and stroke and teach them how to help effectively. The project is also making an effort to implement the health problematic to educational plan in schools in the Czech Republic.
